Expert astrologers work hard for the money. This means they charge between $100 and $500 an hour, depending on the level of expertise and notoriety. Not only that, an astrology consultation for some people is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. So, with that in mind, wouldn’t you want to get the best experience from your astrology chart reading?
The following tips for getting the best astrology reading benefits the astrologer and the client.
- If it’s your first session with an astrologer, sign up for a 30-minute reading
This is a good way to sample the astrologer. Then, if you want more information you sign up for a longer session. Otherwise, you might feel that you spent too much money on a modality that doesn’t seem right for you at this time.
- Stay focused on one area of your life
An astrology session goes by quickly and often times if you cover too many bases, you end up with vague results. It’s better to focus on the most prominent area of your life. Do you need help with employment or finances? Is it relationships where you need insights? Perhaps, you have health concerns. Focus on only one of these areas per session.
- Consider signing up for a block or series of sessions for a situation where you require long-term coaching and support.
I wouldn’t recommend this practice for first-time astrology clients. This is more for the person on a serious spiritual quest or needing practical advice for a particular area of their life.
If you sign up for a block of readings with me, I give discounts.
- Use astrology as an adjunct practice with your medical, legal, financial, or psychological professionals.
Include an astrologer as part of your support team but never rely on an astrologer to give consultations outside of her (or his) professional realm. While some astrologers have a background/degree in psychology (especially the old school astrologers), most of them don’t. If your other professionals are interested in combining forces with the astrologer, all the better.
- Learn astrology basics before a session with an astrologer
If you prefer to save time and money, learn about your Sun, Moon, and Rising Sign as well as, the basic concepts of an astrology chart prior to getting a reading. You can learn from books, blogs, websites, and YouTube videos.
If you’re already on board with astrology, then the astrologer spends less time explaining how astrology works and more time focusing on chart interpretations. You get more from reading when you know the basics.
The exception is if you are seeing the astrologer for a basic interpretation of your Natal Chart. However, if you come to me for a basic reading and you have little background knowledge of astrology, we will only cover your personality based on your planets’ signs, houses, and aspects. We won’t have time to cover transits.
- Record the session so you can relisten to it
When you revisit the reading or session you will come up with questions. Some of your questions will be responded to in a single email while other questions would be best handled in a subsequent reading. Remember that time is money for a professional astrologer, as it would be for any professional.
- Most importantly, make sure you give the astrologer your correct birthday, time of birth, and location of birth.
If you don’t have a correct birth time, the astrologer runs a solar chart, which does not include your correct Rising Sign. They will place your Natal Sun in the First House of the chart. While those won’t give you the most accurate reading, most clients will receive the interpretation they need at that time.
Other tips include not talking during most of the session. After all, you are paying your hard-earned money to receive an expert consultation. Many people allow their egos to take the driver’s seat and when they listen back to the recording, they hear themselves talking more than the actual astrologer. How helpful is that?
(This reminds me of the times I interviewed famous people and hogged up the interview with my own ego. Don’t do this).
But on the other hand, you also don’t want to stonewall the astrologer. She is not a mind-reader for the most part. Communication is a two-way street so communicate your needs and concerns for the reading, and then succinctly respond to the astrologer’s questions in regard to your life experiences in regard to the transits and Natal Chart aspects.
